Ductless filtering fumehoods with modular filtration column

A ductless recirculating fume hood is a safety device used to protect laboratory workers when handling chemicals that pose an inhalation risk.

These fume hoods are equipped with filtration technology that is specific to the type of products handled. These filters capture toxic molecules and particles evaporated in the chemical handling enclosure and make it possible to:

  • Protect users in an effective manner,
  • Reduce the environmental footprint by not releasing any toxic emissions into the atmosphere,
  • Reduce operating costs due to their very low energy consumption,
  • Eliminate all set-up costs related to the installation of a ducted airflow system.

1 - Handling openings
Air from the laboratory enters the enclosure through ergonomic apertures. The air face velocity creates a dynamic barrier between the user and the chemicals being handled.
2 - Handling enclosure
The device ventilation system draws the molecules and particles that have evaporated in the enclosure toward the filtration system. The level of containment provided by the enclosure prevents any pollutants from being released into the laboratory.

3 - Air extraction
The filtration technology customized to the applications in question serves to trap the molecules and particles that have evaporated within the enclosure. The air discharged into the equipment is thus free from all pollutants.

4 - Purification of the ambient air
The recirculation of the filtered air helps to purify the ambient air of the laboratory.

The modular design of the filtration column makes the new captair line adaptable to the laboratory safety needs of any field. The interchangeability of the filters allows the filtration column to be configured specifically for the applications carried out within the enclosure.

Vertical modularity

The vertically-stacked arrangement of the filters allows particulate and molecular filter technologies to be combined. The column is guaranteed to be air-tight using a gel-based seal around the edge of each filter. The various configurations possible make the system suitable for the following types of applications:

  • Applications involving chemicals in liquid form.
  • Applications involving chemicals in liquid and solid form (powders).
  • Applications involving chemicals in solid form (powders).
  • Applications performed in clean rooms (up to class ISO7 or Class 10000 according to US Federal Standard 209E).
  • The containment of laboratory instrumentation.

Horizontal modularity

The enclosures of the new captair line were designed to accommodate from one to four filtration columns. This adaptability makes it possible to cover all safety needs in terms of the retention capacity of the device: from the containment of low-emission instrumentation to large evaporations of toxic substances.
